Senior members should set a positive example for junior members by demonstrating respect,
discipline, and dedication during training.
Assist junior members in their development. Be approachable, supportive, and help guide them
through their learning process.
Stay committed to personal growth in karate. Continue to refine your skills, seek feedback, and
never stop learning, regardless of rank.
Even as a senior member, always show respect to the instructors and follow their direction. Never
undermine their authority.
Avoid arrogance or showing off. Karate is about self-discipline and humility, no matter your rank
or skill level.
Ensure dojo rules, such as bowing and cleanliness, are upheld. Be a role model in maintaining a
respectful and clean training environment.

Help with dojo tasks, such as setting up and packing down equipment or organising events. Take
initiative in maintaining the dojo’s smooth operation.
Senior members are often stronger and more experienced, so take extra care when training with
others, especially juniors, to avoid injury.

Top
Encourage a positive, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere where all members feel welcome and
motivated to train.

All members must maintain their membership with the Scottish Karate-Do Federation (SKF) and
follow its rules. Support SKF activities, such as events and seminars, to strengthen the karate
community.
Through our membership in the SKF, we also adhere to the rules of the Scottish Karate Governing
Body (SKGB), European Karate Federation (EKF), and World Karate Federation (WKF). All senior
members are expected to respect and uphold these regulations, particularly in competitive
settings.
Senior members represent the Club and Federation, both inside and outside the dojo. Always
demonstrate the values of karate—respect, integrity, and self-discipline—in your daily
life.
